Physician’s offices utilize a computer for all their documentation, bookkeeping and billing. All the information you need regarding a patient is right at your fingertips. Hence, how important it is to learn the skill of using a computer.
Medical Terminology
Physician’s and nurses use medical jargon daily and you need to know exactly what they are saying or writing down, so you can take the appropriate action. In a medical terminology class, you learn names of bones, medication classifications, about bodily organs and medical procedures.
Clinical and Diagnostic Techniques
When you become a medical assistant, you will be responsible for many duties related to patient care. Hence, you need to undergo training to know how to do an X-ray and give an injection. During these courses, you also receive training regarding diagnostic procedures and laboratory procedures. First aid, CPR and medication administration comprise this portion of the training, as well.
Medical Law
Due to HIPAA, you’re not allowed to give information to a spouse about any medical conditions, medical history or medication changes. When you learn about medical law, you will gain the information you need to handle all aspects of your job that may have laws revolving around them, such as how to properly handle and complete medical documentation.
